Andy Roddick crashed out of the China Open this week and last week Sam Querrey crashed through a glass table, but have no fear America . There's a bright spot on the horizon in 17-year-old phenom Ryan Harrison. The Shreveport, Louisiana-native picked up his first racquet at age 2, turned pro at 15 (!) and became only the 10th player in the Open Era to win a main draw match before his 16th birthday (the last dude to do that? Just some schlub named Rafael Nadal). PS, Ryan did it on clay. He's had a busy summer, gobbling up so many points on the Challenger circuit that he's rocketed up 1300 ranking spots since May. And he still found the energy to swing by the Sweet Spot. Ah, youth.

Just two days after winning the second professional title of his career, Ryan Harrison, 17, upset the #8 seed and world number 157, Grega Zemlja of Slovenia , in the first round of the $50,000 Challenger in Sacramento , California . Harrison won the match in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.

Ryan Harrison, 17, won his second career professional tennis title this week at the Men's $10,000 Future in Laguna Niguel , California . Harrison entered the event unseeded and in the final defeated the fifth seed, Richard Bloomfield (GBR), 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. This was Harrison's second final round appearance in consecutive weeks after reaching the final last week at the Men's $10,000 Future in Costa Mesa , California as an unseeded player. Harrison's first professional title came in June earlier this year at the Men's $15,000 Future in Shingle Springs , California . He is currently ranked 574 on the Men's ATP Rankings and has jumped more than 1300 ranking spots since May.
