2008

The second Venetian® Macao Tennis Showdown brought together champions of the past and present as Roger Federer took on James Blake and John McEnroe faced off against long time rival Bjorn Borg in a rematch of their many epic encounters. In a historic first, the tennis heroes of two eras came together to make doubles history. In an entertaining one set thriller Borg was able to overcome McEnroe 7-6 (7-2), but as always Johnny Mac was on hand to entertain the crowds with his unique character. In the second match of the night Federer battled to a 6-4 6-4 win over Americaˇ¦s James Blake. The Americans got their revenge in the doubles, however as McEnroe and Blake took down the Swiss Master and Swedish Legend 10-7 in a match tie-break.

The event continued the tradition of supporting needy causes by donating the proceeds from the online auction to Make A Wish Hong Kong/ Macao, as well as the four Playerˇ¦s respective charities.



2007

The inaugural Venetian® Macao Tennis Showdown showcased arguably the two greatest players of our lifetime, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer, making history under the glittering lights of the CotaiArena™. After two straight losses to the then World No. 1 earlier that week in Seoul and Kuala Lumpur, 14-time Grand Slam Champion Sampras reasserted his authority over his younger rival with a tight 7-6 6-4 victory over Federer before a 15,000 strong sell out crowd.

The first Venetian® Macao Tennis Showdown showcased the best entertainment Macao has to offer with the biggest names in world tennis, live music from the legendary Danny Diaz and an exciting and glittering Hollywood stadium feel which combined to create an entertainment extravaganza that thrilled fans. The event also started the tradition of giving back by donating proceeds from an online auction to Make A Wish Hong Kong/ Macao.
